Business Name: Car Solutions,
Name: Tammy Brewer, Dealer and Jimmy Fields, General Manager
Business Bio/Background: Tammy Brewer was approached by a salesman at a new car store here in Rogers, Arkansas and was asked to help start Car Solutions. Her only involvement consisted of providing a LOC for floor planning the inventory needed to start Car Solutions. During the start-up phase of the business Clete (Tammy’s Husband) was introduced to the concept of Lease to Own. He was very interested in the business model and thought that it could provide an alternative to traditional financing. They contacted several companies regarding Lease to Own and decided that Northland provided the greatest guidance and opportunity, however, the business was going to operate like a traditional used car lot with Lease to Own being offered to customers if they could not secure financing. Being a new business with no history, finance companies were very reluctant to do business with Car Solutions. When they did provide financing, the fees were extremely high and reduced profits greatly. After a few months, Tammy became very involved with the dealership and made changes in the management structure. Now we are a family owned and operated business. We take great pride in our customers and the service we provide. We are strictly a Lease to Own dealership and fully engaged in the Northland program. By making the change, it has allowed us to provide a better vehicle and a great opportunity for our customers. Our customers have a sense of security and so do we.
How has RTO/LTO impacted or changed your business: By fully utilizing the Northland program, we now have a 2 year service plan on our lease vehicles, a way to track any issues with insurance related to the vehicles, and a great resource for information. Northland has helped us navigate our way through the used car business which has had a dramatic impact on our business. They are a wealth of knowledge and they are willing to help in any way.
RTO/LTO Lesson Learned: The greatest lesson learned from Northland is to be proactive not reactive. Being proactive will let your customers know that you care about them and allow you to have a successful business. The program will differentiate you from any of your competitors; however, you have to differentiate yourself. Customer service is the key to success. If you are willing to go a little above and beyond the norm in the industry, you will retain your customers and they will advertise for you. A little compassion for your customers and business will go a long way.
